40 Hour Commute
4th of January, 2008
I’m home! I’ve been blogging while away so I won’t bore you with a detailed recount but I thought it’d be interesting to compile a list of trip statistics.
I…
- set foot on three continents
- visited 12 major cities
- visited 8 smaller cities
- flew in 9 separate aeroplanes
- …totalling 55 flying hours
- was singled out 60% of the time when passing through security for additional checks, i.e., bomb swabs, liquid checks and full pat downs.
- spent 32 hours on Greyhound buses
- rode on four underground rail networks
- spent 6 hours on long distance train
- reached 2500 metres above sea level on land
- used 5 currencies
- purchased 1 souvenir
- attended the same venue every Tuesday night, 13 weeks in a row, without fail
- took 2502 photographs
- met 3 friends in the flesh I originally met online
- experienced temperatures between 35 and –25 degress celcius
- acquired a patience for waiting
- went through 3 bottles of listerine
- drank at least 20 cases of Canadian beer
- swam 30 kilometres beside my German swimming buddy, Benny
- repacked my bag 2 to the power of ∞
- ate breakfast, lunch and dinner two days in a row at my favourite NYC deli, Cafe 21
- and I made good friends from 9 different countries
I had an amazing time overseas but now I’m back it feels like I can get on with my real life and that feels good.
